Stock Up on Next Year’s Christmas

Published by bcg1961 under Christmas, sales, thrifty Edit This

Now is the time to stock up on Christmas decorations, wrapping paper and related items for the 2009 holiday season.   I know, I know….you’ve probably just taken down all of the decorations from this year, and finally cleaned up all the wrappings and trimmings, so the last thing you want to think about is next Christmas already.  Maybe you don’t want to think about it, but if you want to save a lot of money, and you have the storage space, you should get out and take advantage of the sales on Christmas items.

I know that everyone is having sales on leftover Christmas decorations.  The only one I can comment on first-hand though is Wal-Mart.  I had to go to Wal-Mart yesterday for some other items, and I couldn’t pass up some of the post-holiday bargains.  The majority of the holiday decorations, wrappings and assorted items were 50 - 75% off.  I didn’t need any wrapping paper or I would have stocked up.  I did buy some small gift boxes to use for my handmade jewelry, and some shredded paper for packing, both at 50% off.  I also got 4 strands of tube lights at $1.75 each, which was 75% off.

I did stop at Kmart, but didn’t buy anything there.  Kmart’s items are at 50% off,   but their selection was slimmer than the pickings at Wal-Mart.

If you go to any of these sales, you will most likely find something you can use next year.  Good luck!
